When is a Good Time to List Your Company Sale?

As a broker I could easily say anytime is a good time to list your company.  But that would be incorrect and is the wrong question. The correct question is when is a good time to start selling my company?  That opens the question on when the best time to start presenting your company to buyers. As you can guess you probably want to stay away from holidays and times that could detract from your presentation. However weather could also be a factor, I was once in Michigan where the weather was -13 degrees. The potential buyers grinned,  bared it and lost interest.

A key item is your own personnel position regarding income taxes. This year in particular may be important. You may find that it is prudent to; move a sale from one calendar year to another; move consideration between two different year or take it all in the same year. This should be part of your overall strategy. Discuss this with your account and attorney.

With the current state of the economy it appears that many Sellers are "Standing On the Sidelines". They are concerned about values, and, if it is the right time to sell. NCC understands those concerns.
